Karol Wojtyla, Pope John Paul II, humbly
and courageously led the Church into the Third Millennium. Losing his beloved parents and brother early in life, he lived through Nazi and Communist occupation to become the first Polish pope in history. Largely responsible for Communism's collapse in 1990, Pope John Paul was a champion for peace and human dignity in his numerous trips around the world.
