Pope Saint John XXIII was the 261st Pope and reigned from 1958 until his death in 1963. Pope John XXIII was best known for calling the historic Second Vatican Council (1962–65), the first session opening on October 11th, 1962. His passionate views on equality were summed up in his famous statement, "We were all made in God's image, and thus, we are all Godly alike." He was canonized on April 27, 2014, (alongside Pope Saint John Paul II,) and his feast day is October 11th.
